Why the name 1879? Lebermuth crafted this oil as a tribute to the original chewing gum flavor created in 1879 when William White discovered how to flavor chicle - choosing peppermint as the first flavor.

Menthofuran levels: The flowering herb is steam distilled to yield higher menthofuran levels. For lower menthofuran levels, a non-flowering herb is steam distilled.
